Today this baby boy…
… has left his teenage years and is turning 20 (while watching football last night, rooting for the Danish who sadly lost to the English)…
He is a social, fun, charming and warm young man and he’s smart with a good head on his shoulders. He’s looking to the future, still a little uncertain about what’s next but I know he’ll get there. Today is not only for looking to the future but also for looking to the past and trying to wrap my head around the fact that this tiny being has now grown into this young man, heading into an adult life. I know he’ll do good but I think he’ll also always remain my baby boy in a way.
As always, congratulations not only to the birthday boy but also his mother (and father) who raised him. It’s a joy seeing the young generation coming into their own. Many happy returns!

It’s hard to feel bad about the English winning given how many defeats there are in their past — except this whole laser story annoys me no end.
And yeah, on to the actual topic of the post — congratulations to him and you. If he sticks with tourism / hospitality, the next few years will be wild, I’m sure.

Thank you, Servetus! The tourism / hospitality thing is not a sure thing anymore, he’s struggling with some choices but he’ll figure it out in time. 🙂
I turned against the English during their match against Germany and now I don’t care how long ago they last won anything, I don’t want them winning now. Started a whole blog post about that yesterday which I think I’ll finish and post soon…

That’s what late adolescence is for, after all.

Thank you! And yeah, I love that picture too. It was a hot summer and we had borrowed that baby hammock for him but it always go too hot for him to stay in long. We didn’t use it much, but we did get this picture out of it. 🙂
