Every working day my black cat tries to get on my lap while I work at the dining table. The space between lap and table is not high enough that she can fit underneath the table while my chair is pulled up. This means that if she does make it onto my lap, I have to sit back and then I can’t type properly. So, nowadays I pull up the chair next to me and place it against mine and she finally settles down curled up against me.

Occasionally she will seize a moment, when I have moved or walked away and sat back down again, and she will claim my lap after all…

The cuddling cat struggle is real! It’s always great when my daughter comes home from school, she can then take over cat-sitting duties for a while (and loves it).

All cats we’ve had have always liked being on us or near us but I don’t think we’ve ever had a cat who insists this much on lying on us, any of us, all day long.
Our other cat, in his old age (he’s 15), also likes getting in the way to best position himself for cuddles, especially with my son whom he sleeps with most nights. Mr Esther jr was trying to get new sheets onto his bed yesterday, he walked out of the room for just a few seconds and returned to this…

As our red cat is old and sometimes takes a while to settle down, we tend to not want to move him when he finally does find a spot. Tough luck for him this time around when Mr Esther jr wanted to finish making up the bed, cuddles would have to wait for a later time.

Speaking of cuddle cats… I recently came across this absolutely adorable picture of Tom Ellis with one of his cats…

He never wanted cats until his wife wore him down, the love is real now…
Richard Armitage in his latest interview (thanks Servetus for the screenshots) says he may want to attempt starting a family by getting a dog first. I know he’s more of a dog than cat person…

…. but he sure looks nice with a cat and may I suggest that a cat might also do very nicely in his New York apartment?

Mr Esther, like Tom Ellis originally and Richard Armitage, never wanted cats either until I was able to convince him otherwise. He has now become a cat person too, despite them getting in the way of reading the newspaper, and they can be useful as iPad stands too.

I can attest that, with all that is going on in this world, the best battles you can have are cuddle battles with your cats!
Esther pet cuddles are the best!! My three pups love when I plop down and they snuggle!
Both your cats are sweetie pies and with all that is going on in the world our pets provide us with love and security ❤️❤️❤️😻
Happy Sunday to you and your family 🤗

Happy snuggling Sunday to you too. 😊 Dogs, in my youthful experience, are great cuddle buddies too but different from the quiet insistence of cats. People who don’t have cats often don’t tend to understand how cuddly they can be. I hope to banish that idea from this world. 😉

Thank you for sharing yours here 🤗

Shipper lore always postulated that Armitage did have a dog of his own. There was also a sub-tradition that said the dog had been struck by a car and killed.

Shippers can be cruel, poor doggy! I haven’t read that much RPF so I don’t think I’ve ever come across the car scenario…

you had to read the shipper reddit. Iirc the dog was in Pace’s brother’s custody, and ran across the road and was killed. I think this happened in 2014 while Armitage was in England.

i grew up with dogs but always fussed local cats. When i moved in with my chap we realised with us both working that it wasn’t really fair to get a dog and tbh we didn’t want the tie that dogs are. I was nervous about getting cats because i’d never actually lived with one.
Totally a cat person now though and i do still like dogs alot (tbh i like most animals). We were lucky with Gresley the grey being my first cat because we bonded instantly and he was the love of my life for 11 years!
I do love how they have their quirks and eccentricity’s. For example-I followed Eddie into the garden a couple mornings ago and he was very annoyed with me ” hey leave me alone, I’m doing cat stuff!” He has his own odd way of sitting on me-he rarely sits fully on my lap-he has to sit on my side-which is a follow on from where he used to sit on my shoulder and then on the left to me on the sofa!
Florence isn’t a lap cat, she’ll cuddle in bed and likes fuss. I’m kinda glad shes not a lap cat though because on the odd occasion she does sit there -she digs her claws in as if she’ll fall off otherwise!

I grew up with dogs as well, loved them too and still love them, but I always wanted cats growing up and once I got them, that was it. Wham! Official cat person. But yes, I do still also love dogs and all animals, like you. 🙂
Yes, I love all those cat quirks too! So nice to hear yours. Like your Florence, our red cat will rarely lie on us, he’ll lie against us for a while and then end up curling up near us. He loves cuddles, though. Our black cat will lie on us for as long as physically possible. Sometimes when we shift to get up she will not even budge and we have to pick her up and set her aside and if you’re not quick enough getting up she’ll be right back on you. 🙂

Ah, 8 cats is lovely. Oh yes, very true that cats tend to think they own the house and the people in them! 🙂
