Working from home, blogging daily, watching movies and shows, and the news have had me glued to my laptop too much. I am getting weary of the screen, I haven’t touched a book in months and I need to get to bed earlier because I stay up way too late and my nights are too short. I’m bone tired.

I think it’s time I switch off for a bit and recharge my batteries. I’ll be around, scanning, reading and commenting here and there but I am longing to curl up and be able to focus on a book again (I haven’t been in the mindset for that lately). So, I think I’ll put blogging on the back burner for a bit now, set the laptop aside a bit more, just do some other things and above all, read books. I probably won’t be able to shut up for too long, but for now I may be silent on here for a little while. Just wanted to give you, my loyal readers, a little heads up to let you know that I’m not disappearing off the face of the earth, I’m just stepping back a bit.

It’s 1.30 a.m. now, time for bed. Goodnight…

… and don’t worry, I’ll be back.

  1. Esther enjoy your books. I’m trying to finish a Heyer one I started three weeks ago,
Sometimes stepping back and detaching distancing oneself from stuff is energizing
    Have a great weekend !! 😘❤️

  2. You are so right. It’s all a bit much on screen these days. I have felt myself getting tired of it, too, and taken breaks. Reading a book sounds wonderful. (I am waiting for my literary escape to arrive, too.) Enjoy your time off and recharge your batteries!

  3. good plan Esther-have a breather, take time to read some books, turn the screen off earlier. I think it can seem like an escape going on the computer, but it allows a lot of stuff into our lives that we wouldn’t experience/think about-again that can be good but also can be overwhelming. I have been very overwhelmed this week and find my self wanting to quit twitter/facebook.

  4. Totally with you! I can only encourage you to take time off this, social media and screens for more and try not to watch the news more than once a day 🙂 WFH from a computer and having to zoom and call and email all day long is exhausting enough, plus all the endless news streams. I’m totally with you on books as well. I haven’t managed to stay up that late as i am simply shattered at the end of the day.
Take all the time you need and make sure you get some really peaceful time for yourself/family with none of the world intruding, it’s so important for ongoing mental health as we’ll be stuck in this circle for many months yet and we have to make sure we don’t burn ourselves out.
    Many hugs xxx

Have a good hiatus. I’m also guilty of staying up too late. Not having to physically go into work is deceptive. Every day feels like a weekend somehow. 😬 And the news cycle is mentally exhausting.
Self care is important. I’ve also struggled with reading lately, but I started a new book last night and it pulled me in. Fingers crossed you’ll find something to capture your attention. Take care!! ♥️
