A state of mind

Recent weeks have been a bit of a downer, or to express it with an Anne with an E gif, the weeks have left me feeling like this:

Anne with a E pms

The vertigo I had a couple of years ago has come back with a vengeance and has left me with not being able to do much. But, thankfully, it slowly does seem to be improving now, so hopefully I’ll see the end of that soon. The only comfort has been my laptop, where when I wasn’t resting, I was able to while away the hours watching stuff that is not the news, because oh my gooodness, the news is absolutely relentless again these days! It seriously depresses me even more than my dizziness and scares me too! So, I have been disappearing into the world of Anne obsession (these following gifs are from last week’s season 3, epsiode 3 – not too spoilery, I hope).

And I understand this dance will be happening in episode 5 in a little over a week:

Anne Gilbert dance

Seriously, I can hardly wait for the next episode. Is it weird that I should love a show about teenagers so much? 😉

Anway, I was dismayed when earlier this week, in addition to the horrible world news and my vertigo, my laptop crashed and big time too. Nothing I could do could bring it back to life. Mr E and I took it to a repair shop and there the news was that the harddrive had died – forever!! Nothing, no data, could be restored. Thankfully the more important stuff was back-upped on our home network drive and I didn’t lose all too much. A new harddrive has been placed, the laptop is working better now than before it completely crashed (when it was agonizingly s-l-o-w) and everthing is configured again (what a hassle to figure out which of your standard passwords have been used for which sites/accounts!).

I guess I can now state that personally things are starting to look up again (please let the improvement continue and the vertigo be gone soon!). If only I could also say that about the state of the world. I can’t wait for the day that the disastrous president Trump is gone and please please please let xenophobia be a thing of the past… SOON! That would improve my state of mind immensely.

  1. Esther I think that this show brings you such joy and takes you away to a happy place is wonderful,
I can’t even watch hardly any news without feeling down, dejected and deflated. I think without getting too political here the Dems are playing right into that bully’s hands and no 2020 candidate seems to want to deal with what’s really going on : beating DT in 13 months.
I’m sorry about your laptop. I know when my old IPhone died I was so upset. More money,
new password more technology to learn.
    But change is good !
Have a great weekend and happy Anne with an E viewing !!

  2. Oh no, the vertigo sounds awful, Esther. I hope you recover quickly. Good thing that the computer has kept you company – even with added problems. But now, with a new hard drive, maybe you can gif and blog better than ever before 😉
    Have a nice weekend!

  3. The news cycle is indeed a never ending headache. Mankind is the most frustrating animal of all.
Vertigo sounds very scary. I hope you continue to improve and will be restored to full health very soon.
Having an escape into a great show is such a joy. I’m a huge fan of the 80s Anne and haven’t found another that comes close. Did you see the movie with Martin Sheen a few years back?
Wishing you a great weekend with a new and improved computer! ♥️

    • Thanks, Kate!
Yes, I did see it but didn’t fancy Sheen much as Matthew and didn’t like the Gilbert Blythe actor.
I too adored the 80s Anne and wasn’t sure about this Anne but it really grew on me and I love this show now. Very different from 80s Anne, more edgy, but so good. And Gilbert is fleshed out more with a different storyline that I also love. Give it a shot if you feel even a little inclined. 😊

  5. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling poorly. Wish I could send your brain / balance centers a strongly worded message to straighten up and fly right! Thanks for the reminder to back up. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while and keep putting it off.

  8. Sorry to read you’re not feeling well atm! I hope I’ll improve gradually but fast! And I loathe everything concerning the news too! It is deeply depressing to see and hear of that abhorrent attack at a synagogue in Halle – I still can’t fathom it nor find the words to express my sadness or horror! How dare they?! Never again!!!

    • It started with a very bad head cold, went to my ears and while the cold has cleared away, the ear thing lingers. Ugh. But it really is slowly getting better now. Thank you. 🙂
