Richard Armitage did a Q&A in Paris today. Here are some pics of him doing publicity…
… and here is the Q&A, up on YouTube!
Nice little interview and there are a few things there that I am glad to have learned!
- Mr cat still lives in Daniel Miller’s apartment, Richard thinks, and he may have a computer chip in his head.
- Richard wants to do a musical and play a rock star in a movie! Kinda like he once did in that ‘My Celebrity Boyfriend’ photobook many years ago, I imagine…
- Aw, he likes David Bowie! He’s not a true fan but fan enough. And he pronounces the ‘ow’ in Bowie as the ‘ow’ in ‘how’ whereas I pronounce the ‘ow’ as in ‘low’. His fave Bowie song is ‘Ashes to Ashes’. Yep, that’s a good song! David Bowie died 2 years and one week ago and I still miss him….
- Richard wants to act with Elizabeth Moss (I still need to watch The Handmaid’s Tale, I hear good things)…
… and of course he’s looking forward to working with Julie Delpy. My Zoe is still on the cards, albeit delayed.
- He’d like to do more phantasy like the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman (I’m not familiar with that trilogy) and he would do Tolkien again, but not sure he’d be a dwarf again.
- ‘Paris will always be Paris’ Richard says, which reminds me of this Casablanca scene. I love Casablanca.
- Richard likes “gratin dauphinois” which I agree is nice but I haven’t tasted in eons…
- And most excitingly of all: he’ll be doing a play soon and we’ll find out about it in the next couple of days! I feel my next London trip coming on and quite soon at that! Woohooo!!!! 🙂
He was also promoting Berlin Station in Paris yesterday…
… and my fave picture from yesterday is this one:
Hair lighter, he looks a little less thin, a lovely smile on his face and crinkles around the eyes. He looks so friendly! I have read comments on Twitter that he looks tired but I’m not sure he looks any more or less tired than usual to me. In any case, I love this picture!
Haven’t gushed over Richard in a while but I am very glad to do so now. 🙂 And I’m sure there will be more gushing in a few days, once we find out more about the play he’ll be doing. Can hardly wait!
MTA: the first picture I shared was apparently a photo manipulation by MatKhal on Twitter, I had totally missed that! She let me know what the original picture is:

NO BEARD!!!!!! I was ready for it to be gone! SOOOO ready.
He does look a bit tired to me, but I imagine his last couple of weeks have been exhausting with his mom and all.
I’m not so excited about the play. I know he loves them and it’s easy for some people to see them, but, quite frankly, I’m still pissed about The Crucible and to be totally honest, unless I won the lottery, I would never be able to afford to see him in a play, so yay, yet another project I’ll never get to see.. When he does plays, his available audience is extremely limited.

Aw, I love the beard! But yeah, he looks very good without as well!
Yeah, the situation with his mother must be draining, poor man. It’s tough to see your parents’ frailty.
If the play were in the US, like the last one, I’d be a little less excited because that wouldn’t be a trip I could make either… but London isn’t that far for me! There are cheap flights from Amsterdam and I can stay with my brother (who lives in London) for free. It will still cost a fair amount but is still affordable for me. I just hope the play gets filmed so a wider audience can see it!

If they film it, I hope Digital DOESN”T do it. I’ve never seen The Crucible and after all the brohaha surrounding that, I’d just rather not!

Yeah, I’m with ya on not wanting this from Digital Theatre!

Yeah, like I commented over on Servetus’ blog, I think he looks relaxed, which he hopefully is given the circumstances.
I really liked the interview, and I’m also anticipating a London trip 🙂
A really nice summary of this. Thank you 🙂

My pleasure. There’s more in the interview, I just cherry picked what I liked best. 🙂
The Armitage Army will be invading London! 🙂

He gave much away unsolicited. This was rather unusual, I find. And also, what makes me like this interview. I only hope the play won’t be running during the exam period; perhaps it would be a good chance to meet up some of us 🙂

The play will take place before this Summer? I’m surprised.

That’s what he said, so the wait won’t be too long. I’m very excited for that!

This is the very best review of RA and Paris – a banquet!! Thank you so much! Feels kind of like manna after a dearth of RA. May I share your link?

Thanks for the compliment! This little review is by far not complete and very subjective to what I liked, but sure, go right ahead and share it! This is a public place, after all. 🙂
Yeah, it’s good to have some new RA stuff to enjoy (besides the audiobook news, which isn’t quite my thing)!

P.S. Let me know where you share it? You don’t have to, but I am always curious. 🙂

Lovely. And yes, London calling.
PS: I didn’t think he looked particularly tired… but I am not surprised that fans are worried about him. The news about his mum sounded alarming. We can only hope that she’s on the mend.
PPS: Has no one started the usual fashion forensics yet? Brand-new suede jacket? 😉

I love the new suede jacket… and today’s boots, too! (Haven’t had time to listen yet.)

Yes, his mum is in my thoughts!
Fashion forensics, LOL! I’m not too preoccupied by fashion criticism. I did like both looks, though!

That man really likes potatoes and cheese. I seem to remember him mentioning a different French potato / cheese dish a few years ago.

I wonder how much he will enjoy working with Delpy ? I would imagine she is quite difficult to work with from wat I have seen of her.

Thanks for stopping by!
I don’t know much about Julie Delpy so I can’t comment on that.

Prehaps he could do Game of Thrones that is fantasy but there is only one season left so probably off the cards.

I haven’t watched GoT (except for a few early episodes which couldn’t quite grab me). Kinda relieved he’s not up for that (as far as I know) because that would mean I’d have to dive into that whole world as well and I don’t have the time or patience for that… For him it could be potentially great but for me, I’m kinda relieved there’s no indication he’ll be doing that. 😉
