Next up: Colin Firth!

So, I’ve been sharing catch up stuff from when I was on vacation, and I’ve caught up with Colin Firth as well now…. well, at least when it comes to the two movies he has coming up this fall. (Thank goodness I am out of a job right now, otherwise I would never have had time for this… 😉 ).

First off… Bridget Jones’s Baby. I am trying to resist this movie, because it can only be a rehash of the first movie (just like the second one was, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment) and I really don’t like the premise of “who’s the baby daddy?” But then I see screenshots from various trailers over the world shared by “Colin Firth Addicted” over on Instagram and I am sucked right back in… I mean just look at these!

The romance still seems to be there between Bridget and Mark Darcy…

… so why on earth, after all these years, do they have to conquer each other yet again? That is, if they even end up together in this movie, Bridget could apparently also go for the character played by Patrick Dempsey… now that would be a travesty! Anyway, “in vain I have struggled, it will not do…”; my interest, against better judgement, has been piqued. I really have to go see this movie now. Two days ago Ellie Goulding’s title song to the movie was released, inlcuding a video. Does this hint at Bridget going for Darcy (“Still fallling for you”)?

Later in the fall Colin Firth’s other movie Genius should be released here as well. The critics have rated the movie so-so, but I find it intriguing! The story is about renowned editor Maxwell Perkins (Colin Firth) who develops a friendship with author Thomas Wolfe (Jude Law) while editing his novel Look Homeward, Angel and follows their relationship after that. Here’s the trailer:

Nicole Kidman and Laura Linney are also in it (I especially like Linney!). And “Colin Firth Addicted” has again collected some great pics…

Yeah, looking good and the story makes me curious (even though I have never read any Thomas Wolfe, although I have heard of him). So, whatever the critics say, I need to see this for myself as well when it comes out!

This is going to be a good TV and movie autumn, with Berlin Station and A Place to  Call Home (if I can get my hands on those). Blindspot should also be returning, and then we have these Colin Firth movies and dare I hope for the release of some of Richard Armitage’s movies as well to the general public (Brain on Fire  and maybe Pilgrimage)? Lots of goodies to look forward to. 🙂

I know exactly what you mean about the third Bridget Jones movie; won’t be able to ignore it, because his chemistry with her is marvelous. The other movie is news to me; I’ll have to find out more. As for Blindspot, holy cow! When the pilot episode was shown, I thought it would be another Kyle XY (or whatever the name of the show with the belly-buttonless teen was). To my surprise, the show ended up being entertaining and intriguing enough to keep me watching. Obviously, it’s not at the level of some other shows like ‘Homeland’ or ‘The Blacklist’, but it is a good hour of TV. Let’s see if Season 2 isn’t a dud. The show has the potential to raise the bar and become a classic. We’ll see… 😉

    1. My brother always tells me to watch Homeland, but so far I never have. I know I should start… but I can’t deal with another addiction right now (time wise), so for now I’m leaving it. 🙂 Yeah, I hope Blindspot can kee up the good work!

  2. oh, yes i have seen some ad for te 2nd movie, one to watch out for and one i would really like to see 🙂 Not sure about BJ… might wait for that to be on pay-TV or DVD or so, the whole concept of it .. sigh. We’ll see 😉 But Jude Law and Colin in a movie is a must.

Blindspot i was enthusiastic about until i read about the changes in tone planed for S2, apparently it will become funny and light and such… why i wonder. Too bad, because what worked was really the tension. We’ll see if it works 🙂
And yes, BSt… if we manage to see it ! 🙂

I also saw the Bridget Jones trailer and thought, huh, I don’t see how she’s going to end up with the other guy anyway. I’ll watch it on TV sometime maybe. But Colin Firth is still looking very good!

  4. I saw ‘Genius’ a few weeks ago and I liked it. The movie has it’s flaws but the friendship between Firth and Law’s characters touched my heart and I thought that both actors were a good match for their parts.

The change of tone in the second season of Blindspot is a result of the changed time slot I think (it will be shown earlier in the evening) but I am not thrilled about this either and I hope it won’t ruin all of what I liked about season 1!!!

      1. In Germany it started in early august but wasn’t shown that long and it was pure luck that I caught it.
I can’t wait to see how the relationship between Weller and Jane plays out after Kurt found out Jane lied to him! And how he will do as the boss…
