        1. Watch the whole thing some day, if you can. I persoanlly believe this to be Monnty Pyython’s masterpiece. Controversial, yes, but a masterpiece. Just to be clear – they never actually ridicule Jesus, they ridicule the hysterical reactions of people that desperately want a messiah. This story is about Brian who lives a life parallel to Jesus and gets mistaken for a messiah.

    1. Seriously, Serv? You haven’t seen Life of Brian? OMG, you really have to watch it. It’s actually a really interesting comment on all religion, not just christianity. – Life of Brian was blacklisted in Ireland – an indication how good the film really is, if the Church felt so threatened by it…

  1. LOL – oh, this made me laugh so much. Possibly for the wrong reason. But Monty Python – oh yes.
PS: I feel the strong need to post a clip of the “People’s Front of Judea vs. The Judean People’s Front” somewhere.

    1. Oh yes, I love that!!! And so many other parts… the “what did the Romans ever do for us?” part or the “you are all individuals part” and the crowd that are detremined to make Brian holy, or the ex-leper, or the hermit that gets disturbed after 18 years silence, or the Pontius Pilate talking of his friend “Biggus Dickus” and the whole “welease Wodger” part or the friendly Roman that feels pained at having to hand out crucifixes, or the stoning section, etc. etc. etc. I just may have given away the whole thing, I just adore this film so much…

      1. Yes, yes, yes, yes, all of it yes. And for the German readers of your blog I would also like to add – you *must* watch this in English. Way better!!!

            1. 🙂 There are good days and bad days – my current favorite (for the cringing alone) is the “Scared Straight: Medieval Childbirth” If all goes according to plan in the fall term, it lands on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I send them off with wishes of a happy holiday and advice to “not get pregnant” Peals of freshman laughter every time! (And I still have a job!!)

              1. I used to be able to power all the way through the Protestant Reformation in 101, but lately, since I’ve begun to “embellish,” I’m lucky to get through the Middle Ages. “Quality” over quantity right? 😉

  2. Classic…I die laughing every time I watch the bit where Brian is writing a graffiti: “Romans go home” and the centurion (Cleese) comes by and relentlessly corrects his grammar.
